Statistical stability of radiative transport models

Radiative transport models offer an accurate tool to model the energy density of high frequency waves propagating in highly heterogeneous media. As such, they can e.g. be used to reconstruct properties of the underlying medium from various boundary measurements. This has applications in imaging. The key limitation to such imaging is the residual statistical instability in the radiative transfer model. We present recent results on the analysis of the statistical instability in different regimes of wave propagation. This is joint work with Ian Langmore and Olivier Pinaud.
