In this talk, we will explore the cognitive mechanisms that drive human learning and creativity, two processes deeply intertwined in our brain’s architecture. By examining recent advances in neuroscience and psychology, we will uncover how working memory plays a crucial role in both acquiring new knowledge and generating creative ideas. Our brains, unlike large language models (LLMs), are highly efficient in manipulating mental models to integrate new information and explore innovative solutions, often triggering the familiar "aha" moment. Understanding these mechanisms can guide the development of more innovative AI systems that improve both human learning and AI-assisted ideation.
