The fragmentation of star-forming clouds is controlled by turbulent flows. An appropriate treatment of the cloud turbulence is necessary to simulate correctly the formation of collapsing cores and stars, which requires a very large numerical resolution. I will present evidence of the importance of turbulence in star-forming regions and preliminary work to address the high resolution need with adaptive mesh refinement.
